Package installed but loading failure v2.2.5

Environment

• python v3.12.0
• mariaDB v11.2.3
• pipenv v2023.12.1
• mysqlclient v2.2.5

Problem Description

Hi, I installed the package in a pipenv project , with following command :

MYSQLCLIENT_CFLAGS="-I/path/to/mariaDB/11.2.3/include/mysql  -I/path/to/mariaDB/11.2.3/include/mysql/mysql"  \
    MYSQLCLIENT_LDFLAGS="-L/path/to/mariaDB/11.2.3/lib/ -lmariadb"   pipenv install  mysqlclient

The build seems successful , according to the console message

When I try to load the package in my python shell , it reports following error :

• Python seems to fail to load the libmariadb.so even after the path is specified in sys.path
• I can confirm the C function mysql_character_set_name(...) exists in my libmariadb.so , by building / running another C program I wrote.

This is the output of ldd command

• I don't see libmariadb.so listed in _mysql.cpython-312-x86_64-linux-gnu.so , is it normal ?
• I am not sure how to troubleshoot this, what else I can also check ?

PYTHONPATH is not where C library is searched. Use LD_LIBRARY_PATH envvar. Or specify rpath when building.
