New release?

The last release was 1.70e on May 24th, 2023. It's been almost two years since then.
The readme implies the master branch (i.e. 1.8x) is unstable, so there's no 1.8x release yet, but the 1.7x branch has had multiple commits since 1.70e. Shouldn't there be a 1.71 release?
