Correct way to use hf_hub_download to get absolute path to a cached folder?

I need to get absolute path to a folder,

encoderDirectory = os.path.dirname(hf_hub_download(repo_id="xxx/xxx", filename="models/image_encoder/config.json"))

Is this the correct way to do it? It looked so wrong to me.
