Feature Request: Show follower count (and avatars) in the “Follow on Fediverse” block

What

Add support for displaying follower-related information in the “Follow on Fediverse” block — such as the number of followers and, optionally, a few follower avatars.

Why

The current block is static and doesn’t reflect any social activity. Displaying followers would:
• Add credibility and social proof
• Make the block more visually engaging
• Encourage visitors to follow the account
• Better reflect the actual fediverse presence of the blog/author

How

Ideally, this could be implemented as optional settings within the block:
• A toggle to show/hide follower count
• A toggle to show/hide a few follower avatars

Personally, I’m not sure if showing follower count and avatars directly in the follow block would be that meaningful. On most other platforms, follow buttons tend to stay clean and minimal — it keeps the focus on the action, not the stats.

I feel like this kind of follower info would be better suited for a hovercard or a profile preview. Maybe something like a federated profile card when you click or hover over the site identity, rather than cluttering the front-facing block.

Which platforms? This is not an embedded code to promote an external platform: WP is itself "the platform". I should be able to see some public stats, like Mastodon does:
