Forkgram fails to obtain location permission (F-Droid build)

Forkgram seems to be unable to obtain location permission (specifically background location), so any location related features don't work (like people nearby or location sharing).
I'm using Huawei P40 Lite with latest official EMUI 12 updates, no gapps or microg installed.

With Telegram-FOSS build, I can deny location, grant permission only when app is in use, or grant it always/unconditionally.
This third option is not available for Forkgram, seems like the app doesn't ask for it, even though it needs it.

I've tried all builds currently available on f-droid. There is no location related option in Forkgram-specific settings, so I assume it's a bug.

I've just downloaded and tested latest version from here - 9.5.6.0. It doesn't have this problem.
So it's a problem with f-droid builds only.

Confirmed. F-Droid version only has that issue.

I encounter the same problem with FDroid's version v9.6.3.0.
