create a wiki page

maybe it's better to create a wiki page here on github and organize things into categories than to leave everything in a single readme file and maybe we can put this wiki on the official site too

I would vote for the use of mkdocs (mkdocs-material in particular) instead of a wiki page. I think it has way more capabilities and can be managed more easier.

Right now, I feel there is not too much documentation necessary. Maybe I'm wrong.
What would be the pages and categories we could need?
I would argue for starting with markdown files in a folder of the repo for the beginning. If there is a reasonable amount of docs, we could move to mkdocs from there.

I'm reluctant to use the github wiki feature, since it would look us up there (a bit). Also I don't want to get started with mkdocs just yet, because it is just one more thing to manage and I'm not sure it is necessary. What do you think?
