Save instead of functionally Save As?

Currently the save functionality is actually more a Save As from the user's point of view. That is every time the save button is pressed it asks for a name.
I'm not sure this is a good thing, but I find myself wishing that the save was more just a save of my current work in the last file I named (like a word document) instead of a new file name every time. Would it make sense to have a Save and and Save As button?
