Part of #1064.

Caution

Wait for the results of stackabletech/airflow-operator#618 before starting on this issue.

  • Add: 2.10.5, 3.0.1 (experimental)
  • Deprecate: 2.10.4

Tip

Please add the scheduled-for/20XX-XX label, add to the Stackable Engineering project.

Update tasks

  • Update versions.py to reflect the agreed upon versions in the spreadsheet (including the removal of old versions).
  • Download new constraints file (see airflow/download_constraints.sh).
  • Update other dependencies if applicable (eg: python, statsd_exporter, etc).
  • Check other operators (getting_started / kuttl / supported-versions) for usage of the versions. Add the PR(s) to the list below (docs etc. will stay with 2.x)
  • Ensure prerequisites are up to date (required-external-components.adoc).
  • Update the version in demos. Add the PR(s) to the list below. Will use 3.x in demos.

Release notes

The recent release of Airflow 3 brings with it a raft of changes - with both new features and significant changes to architecture. SDP offers early experimental support for Airflow 3.0.1 as of SDP 25.7. This gives users the chance to use the new UI, to update their DAGs and to test the new OPA authenticator.
